Bright Horizons for English Wines
Did you know that prior to the 1950’s England was generally considered to cold and too wet for quality wine production? However, through ingenuity and persistence the English wine industry has expanded both in quantity and quality in leaps and bounds, and Robin Goldsmith gives us all of the facts about it on The Alcohol Professor. During the initial push the bulk of British wine production was German varietals but in the past 20 years England has exploded with variety and entered the world arena of award winning wines.
It is sparkling wines and champagnes that have been the front runners in the British invasion. A few of Robin’s recommendations include: Nyetimber of the South Downs, Gusbourne Estate from Kent, Henners from East Sussex and that doesn’t even begin to cover the sparkling Roses!
